Egg White Protein vs. Whey: What WPI Is, How It's Made, and Why the Difference Matters

SP HUMANIA Biofarma ·
Proteína Clara vs. Whey: qué es el WPI, cómo se hace y por qué importa la diferencia

When it comes to protein powder, terms get mixed up and confusion is real. Whey protein? Whey concentrate? Isolate? Egg white? Here we explain it simply: what Clear Protein is, how it differs from conventional Whey, and why it makes a difference in its composition.

First: what is "whey"?

Whey protein comes from cow's milk. During the cheese-making process, milk is separated into two parts: the solid curds (which become cheese) and the leftover liquid. This liquid is whey. This whey contains proteins of high biological value, and from there the entire category of whey protein supplements is born.
Up to this point, all Whey products have the same origin. The difference lies in what is done with that whey afterward.

The two main versions: Concentrate vs. Isolate

Whey Concentrate (WPC)
Whey is filtered in a basic way. The result has 70–80% protein, but retains a significant amount of fat, lactose, and other components. It is economical and functional, but less pure.

Whey Isolate (WPI) Clear Protein

Whey undergoes an additional filtration process (microfiltration or ion exchange) that removes most of the fat and lactose. The result is a powder with 90% or more protein per serving, practically no lactose, and minimal fat. That is WPI: the purest form of whey.
SP Humania Clear Protein* is 100% Whey Protein Isolate, which is why it's called "clear": because it is what it is, that simple.

What's special about the SP Humania formula?

SP Humania Clear Protein* is not just WPI. Each 25g serving provides:

  • 20g of protein (clarified whey protein isolate LACPRODAN®)

  • No added sugars, gluten-free, non-GMO, no fillers or gums

  • Electrolytes: Sodium (100.87mg) and Potassium (40.51mg)

  • Complete vitamin complex: Vitamin C (25mg), Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Niacin, and Pantothenic acid

  • Tropical Mix flavor, 30 servings per container

*This product is not a medicine. The consumption of this product is the responsibility of whoever recommends it and whoever uses it.

Why is it important to use LACPRODAN®?

Not all whey protein isolate is the same. SP Humania Clear Protein* uses LACPRODAN®, a clarified whey protein isolate from a certified origin. This guarantees consistency in the amino acid profile, purity of the process, and traceability of the ingredient—something many brands do not specify on their label.

Why does purity matter?

More protein per serving: With WPI you get 20g of protein in a serving of only 25g of powder. The protein/weight ratio is 80%, which is a significantly higher proportion of protein per serving than WPC.

No added sugars: Zero. The sweetness comes from sucralose (a calorie-free sweetener), not sugar. Relevant if you watch your glycemic intake.

No significant lactose: The isolation process removes practically all lactose, making it compatible with most people with dairy sensitivity.

No fillers or gums: What you see on the label is what's there. No filler ingredients that dilute the protein concentration.

How to recognize a good WPI?

  • Label explicitly stating "Whey Protein Isolate" or "WPI"

  • Minimum 80% protein per serving (check nutrition facts)

  • Less than 1g of fat per serving

  • No added sugars

  • Brand that is transparent about its ingredients and their sources — ideally with certification of the protein ingredient

At SP Humania, we meet all these criteria. And we put it on the label so you can verify it yourself.

WPI is one of the most used presentations, and understanding what you are consuming is the first step to making smart decisions about your supplementation.
Knowing what you are consuming from the origin, the process, the ingredients is the first step to making smart decisions about your supplementation. Clear Protein says exactly what it is, because it doesn't need to hide anything. It's that clear.
